Answers about verification results, billing and what to do when a result is not what you expected.
- Verification statuses overview
The seven statuses a ValidReach result can have, what each means and whether it is billed.
- What does catch-all mean?
A catch-all result means the domain accepts mail for every address, so the mailbox itself cannot be confirmed.
- What does unknown mean?
Unknown means the check could not reach a conclusion, for example after a timeout or a temporary refusal. Unknown results are not billed.
- What does the score mean?
ValidReach results do not carry a numeric score. Decide with status, is_deliverable, the flags and the reason field.
- Which results are charged?
Every verification result costs 1 credit except unknown, which is free. Disposable results are charged like any other.
- Do you send real emails when verifying?
No. Verification checks an address without sending a message to it.
- Why is an active email marked invalid?
An address that seems to work can still be invalid at check time: a typo domain, a closed mailbox, or a server that rejected the recipient. Here is how to check.
- Why iCloud, Outlook or Hotmail addresses are not marked valid
Large consumer mail providers often limit mailbox checks, so addresses at iCloud, Outlook or Hotmail can come back as unknown or with less certainty. This is a limit of the method.
- Why did the result change on recheck?
Results describe an address at one moment. Temporary conditions, greylisting, full mailboxes and server changes can all make a later check differ.
- Do credits expire?
ValidReach credits do not expire. Billing is per billed result, and your balance and history are on the credits page.
- Is rechecking an address free?
Rechecking an address is billed like any other check: each billed result costs 1 credit, and unknown results are not billed.
