MX record
A DNS record that names the mail servers for a domain and their priority.

In practice
Each record has a priority number and a server name; senders try the lowest number first. A domain with no MX record, and no fallback address record, usually cannot receive mail.
Example
example.test MX 10 mail.example.test means mail for example.test goes to mail.example.test.
Verification and sending
ValidReach reads the MX records for every domain it checks. The free MX lookup tool shows the same data.
