Copywriting that converts

Write subject lines and bodies that are clear, honest and built around one ask.

What you will be able to do

  • Write a clear subject line
  • Structure a body around one call to action
  • Edit for length and honesty

Subject lines

Clear before clever, short enough for a phone, honest about the content. Avoid capitals, repeated punctuation and fake reply prefixes.

Body structure

Open with why the message matters to this reader, give the one thing you want them to do, support it briefly and close with a single clear action.

One ask

Several competing buttons dilute the message. If you have more to say, send another email.

Edit

Cut every sentence that does not serve the ask, read it aloud, and check it on a phone.

Your output: checklist

  • ☐ Write three subject lines and pick the clearest
  • ☐ State the single ask in one sentence
  • ☐ Cut the draft by a third
  • ☐ Read it on a phone
  • ☐ Run it through a content checker
