Email queue
The waiting line of outbound messages a server or platform processes.

In practice
Messages wait for their turn, and temporary failures go back into the queue to be retried later. Queues also hold mail back so sending stays within limits.
Verification and sending
Dead addresses fill queues with retries and slow delivery to the rest. Removing them keeps the queue moving.
