Email encryption

Protecting message content from being read by anyone but the intended parties.

In practice

Most mail between servers uses TLS, which protects it in transit. End-to-end methods such as S/MIME and PGP protect the content itself but need keys on both sides, so they are rare in marketing mail.

Verification and sending

Not related to verification. Do not put sensitive data in email unless you have decided how it is protected.
