CAN-SPAM
The United States law that sets rules for commercial email, including honest headers, a postal address and a working opt-out.

In practice
Messages must not use misleading headers or subjects, must be identifiable as advertising, must include a valid physical postal address, and must offer a clear way to opt out that you honour promptly. You stay responsible for what others send on your behalf.
It works on an opt-out basis for the US. Other countries, such as Canada, require consent first. This is a summary, not legal advice.
Verification and sending
Verification does not make a message compliant. It helps you avoid sending to addresses that cannot receive it; consent and opt-out handling are separate duties.
