In practice
A MIME message is split into parts, each with a content type. A marketing email normally has a plain-text part and an HTML part, so each client can show the one it supports. Binary parts such as attachments are encoded as text, often with base64.
Verification and sending
Not related to verification; it describes how a message is packaged.
