BounceShield
A product name for a bounce-prevention and email-verification service; Mailmeteor uses it for its built-in checker.

In practice
BounceShield is not a protocol or a result status. Mailmeteor describes its BounceShield as an in-house checker that looks at address format, domain and MX records, and the SMTP server before a campaign sends. There is also a separate verification service at bounceshield.io, so the name alone does not identify one vendor.
Because it is a brand, the checks, limits and pricing depend on the product. Read the vendor’s current documentation rather than assuming a shared standard.
Verification and sending
A verifier such as ValidReach performs the same broad checks (syntax, domain/MX and SMTP where possible) and returns statuses you can act on. Use the vendor’s documentation to compare what a branded checker actually tests.
