Blacklisting

Being added to a blocklist, or the act of adding a sender to one.

In practice

If your domain or sending IP is listed, delivery usually suffers first and you notice it as bounces or missing replies. Work in order: pause sending, find the cause (a compromised account, an unverified list, complaints), fix it, then ask the list operator to remove you if they accept requests.

Delisting rules differ by operator, and some listings expire on their own.

Verification and sending

Cleaning the list is part of the fix. Sending again to the same unverified addresses will get you listed again.
