Verification reasons
The reason field explains a result in a short machine-readable string. Use status for decisions and reason for logging and support.
Reasons produced locally
| reason | Meaning |
|---|---|
| syntax_invalid | The address is not valid email syntax. Status invalid. |
| no_mx | The domain has no mail server (when the DNS check is enabled). Status invalid. |
| disposable | The domain is on the disposable list. Status disposable. |
Fallback reasons
When the verification service does not supply a reason, one is derived from the status.
| status | reason |
|---|---|
| valid | accepted_email |
| invalid | invalid_email |
| unknown | unavailable |
| risky | risky |
| disposable | disposable |
| catchall | accept_all |
| role | role_account |
Other values
Reasons from the SMTP verification stage are passed through in lowercase and the set is not exhaustive. Treat an unrecognized reason as informational and keep deciding on status.
