Klaviyo review: ecommerce email and SMS, and the data behind it
A criteria-based review of Klaviyo’s published ecommerce marketing features and the verification checks that protect them.
Klaviyo focuses on ecommerce marketing, with email and SMS campaigns tied to customer and event data. This review uses the vendor’s published plans and product pages, not a hands-on test.
What the vendor publishes
Klaviyo prices by the number of profiles and includes a free tier for small audiences. Its platform combines campaigns, flows, segmentation and reporting, and it is built around connecting store and customer events to messaging.
Where verification fits
Ecommerce lists decay quickly: seasonal shoppers abandon addresses, staff change roles and typo-prone checkout forms keep bad addresses. Verify at capture and before a large seasonal send. For event-triggered flows, decide what should happen when a profile is invalid so a bad address does not keep re-entering a flow.
Questions to ask
- How are profiles counted, and what happens to suppressed or cleaned profiles?
- Does the API expose verification status, or do you verify before creating a profile?
- Can you segment by source so a bad import is easy to isolate?
- How do you export profiles and event history if you leave?
Run a small pilot
Take one source, verify a sample and compare the next campaign’s bounces and complaints with your prediction. Repeat for the next source before scaling.
